Illustrated by Salvador Dalí at the request of the Italian Government to commemorate the 700th year of Dante’s birth. Once the Italian people found out a Spanish painter had been commissioned to commemorate an Italian hero, the job was cancelled. As a well known artist in his own right, Dalí decided to work with a printer to create the stunning original French edition of 5346; which is what we now offer you.

The story of Dante’s Inferno is timeless. Dalí’s perspective on the characters met by Dante and Virgil as they pass through Hell, Purgatory, & Paradise learning and growing, are infectious. These are some of the most famous and sought after limited edition prints by a master ever made. Seeing them in such excellent condition and in one place at one time is an experience I will always enjoy.

Dante’s Inferno

Each illustration was painted, scaled down, cut into wooden blocks which were then carefully applied again and again with different colors until it was perfect. The date range given to this edition spans five years from 1959-1964. The quality, craftsmanship, and integrity of this work are unparalleled.
