    Lowry is most famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of NW England amidst the 20th century. His distinctive style is characterized in his urban landscapes people with human figures referred to as “matchstick men”. Lowry’s works predominantly depict scenery from Pendlebury, Greater Manchester. His works are on display in The Lowry (named in his honor) as well as the Tate Britain in London.
