Larry Poons

  • Larry Poons is an American abstract painter whose styles have shifted over his career, but always following the same muse: abstraction. Poons first gained notoriety in the 60s for his Dot paintings, which consisted of circles and ovals on solid, brightly colored backgrounds.

    Poons has been the subject of multiple artist documentaries over the years including Painters Painting (1972) and The Price of Everything (2018). He also cameos in Andy Warhol’s 1967 Portrait of the Artists.
