Born Andrew Warhola JR, Warhol takes the cake as one of the most prolific and well known pop artists of his time. Warhol had a special talent for mixing celebrity culture and advertising into his pieces. He worked in a variety of mediums including painting, silkscreening, photography, film, and sculpture. His New York Studio The Factory, became a well known gathering place, frequented by drag queens, playwrights, and hollywood celebrities alike. Warhol also founded Interview magazine where he featured celebrities endorsed by himself. A majority of Warhol’s original art works are displayed in the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh as well as the Tate Modern in London.
